Forms part of everyday language to call Zero Zone to that space (physical or not) that has undergone an event of such magnitude that automatically sets the counter to zero in the particular history of that site (physical or not): first so that is not forgotten and, second, so that everything can be reformulated from this new starting point. The present time of general crisis can become (if it has not already been) at Zero Zone for Architecture in our country: a space of time, concrete, from which we will be forced to seek new ways.

Dear colleagues and friends of arquitecturazonacero, again a quick trip across four very different types that take us from China to the United States, through the central Spain, all of them joined by an intelligent use, sometimes magical as in Robregordo, of the materials that are the alphabet of our discipline: clay, stone, concrete and steel.

“Henderson-Hopkins School will not only change the way we think about training teachers for the future,” stated David W. Adecuación de acceso y columbario en el cementerio de Robregordo, Madrid
Adequacy of access and columbarium in the cemetery of Robregordo, Madrid (Spain)

The project stems from the need to implement a series of columbarium in the last action in Cemetery Robregordo in the Sierra de Madrid ended a few years earlier. Access from the new extension does not present any sheltered area in which to perform the waiting mourning from the arrival of the recumbent; a door as a gate, a perimeter wall of irregular blocks of granite that separates the inside from the outside and two cypresses placed symmetrically to its location from a remote location are the three existing elements.

For architects of my generation, the architectural magazines have always been a faithful traveling companions; in them we find projects and works that help us to keep alive the pulse, and attention, with the everyday architecture anywhere in the world. Along with the above, magazines are also a window into a universe of possibilities (of knowledge); a project leads to another; also an article, or a book .... One of these windows was shown in the latest issue of Arquitectura Viva , Palimpsests, with the presentation of a work by the young Chinese architect John Lin: Prototype House in Shaanxi; so much so that, immediately, I wanted to know more about what I was reading and seeing. Just days later, and with the kindness that characterizes our colleagues in the far country, John Lin and Joshua Bolchover, through the Rural Urban Framework (RUF), they did get to me a note of their work that I will share with you from this first.
