Forms part of everyday language to call Zero Zone to that space (physical or not) that has undergone an event of such magnitude that automatically sets the counter to zero in the particular history of that site (physical or not): first so that is not forgotten and, second, so that everything can be reformulated from this new starting point. The present time of general crisis can become (if it has not already been) at Zero Zone for Architecture in our country: a space of time, concrete, from which we will be forced to seek new ways.

Newsletter 18 / 30_6_2104

Dear colleagues and friends of arquitecturazonacero: to complete the month that opens the expected summer, I invite you to a brief tour of the three last inputs´ blog . The first two, corresponding to two schools, they show us how to respond to the surroundings, to the site, in two situations which are, in turn, completely different. From Switzerland, the always interesting team FRAR Architectes, who visited this digital window to show their former compact prism, also school in Cugy, shares with us his latest multifunctional set in Chermignon where plants and volumes are adapted to the steep slope to terminate opening to the spectacular views from this stony watchtower.

Escuela infantil en Vereda de Estudiante, Leganés, Madrid
Nursery School in Vereda de Estudiantes, Madrid (Spain)

A powerful circular, and volumetric, shape seated at one end of the plot, is completed with a gentle slope, that occupies a small annex prism, which leads to young users to the encounter with light and sky on the roof of the building. The skylights, at this level, become funny gameplay elements that flood with light its colorful interior. In both cases, the concrete builds its rotund volumetries that, in the case of the Swiss, is also shown in the interior finishes at the height of the known Swiss virtuosity.
Artistic Lighting project and emergency at Buitrago de Lozoya Castle, Madrid (Spain)

From the center of Spain, and after her delicate proposal in Robregordo Cemetery, the emerging team MUKA Architecture, and from the hand of the amazing photographies of our colleague and photographer Ricardo Santonja, they approach us to a subtle study´s intervention in the Castle of the Madrid population Buitrago de Lozoya. If in the previous they laid hands of the texture Corten steel and concrete to dialogue with the lonely walls of the cemetery, in this case, they makes use of technology to converse with the powerful walls of the pre-existence. A ring of warm light and soft touches of color transform the night picture of the powerful defensive with an gorgeous play of light and shadows.
